About Me:
I am a web developer who has created and maintained over 60 websites, including www.khmercity.net and www.oudam.com.

Having spent my childhood under the Khmer Rouge, our family fled to the U.S. when I was 10. Just like other Khmer immigrants we arrived penniless and had to work our way out of inner city slums. Taking advantage of the American educational system, I excelled in school, eventually earning a Bachelor's degree in chemistry from Rice University (Houston, TX) and a Master's in medicinal chemistry from Purdue University (W. Lafayette, Indiana).

Since graduation I have managed to live off the internet through various online businesses. Although not rich, I enjoy my work thoroughly, especially developing websites to help promote Khmer unity and appreciation for our rich culture and heritage.

Overall, I'm an average guy who likes the simple things in life, like good friends, family and genuine moments. I love surfing the web and learning about new things. Since 2000 I've traveled to Cambodia quite a bit, maintaining a firm connection with my homeland, and hoping to return to live there in the near future.

Welcome to Khmercity.net!

This site was created to bring Khmer people from all over the world together into a virtual community to foster stronger unity and appreciation for our rich culture and heritage.

As Cambodia's unfortunate recent past had left many of our people scattered all over the world, the internet could play an important role in bridging the physical distances that divide us.

To this end, Khmercity.net provides a fun and engaging place for Cambodians from all parts of the world to come together to chat, make friends, share photos and music, and discuss issues relevant to our community.

I want to express my sincere thanks to all members of Khmercity.net for helping to build the largest and most exciting Khmer community on the web!

You're always welcome at our places in Siem Reap. If you'd like to come by and stay, just let me know. I'm not at Cambodia yet but I can ask my parents to accommodate you and your family.

I would agree that it is a 'big move' -- I use to think moving across stateline is a 'big move' :D.

I am so excited for you...I am sure everything will turn out fine...where there is a will, there is a way.

You are giving all of us abroad hope Oudam -- hope that some day, we too can return and make any small difference we can.

Best and warmest wishes to you and your family on this venture and beyond.
