Whatever the monk may have done, it is painful to see the orange robe (not the person who wears it) being looked down upon this way. The "correct" way a government should have handled this matter is to first disrobe the monk if he is found to be bre…

KLB: This is a question for a medical doctor. It could be that the husband sperm count is not up to par. Millions of sperm are swimming toward one goal and only one MAY survive.
on Friday
Both are correct. A sperm plus an egg = a cell. The Buddha says that this new cell receives a new "life" energy the moment it was formed. Hence, conception. That is why the Buddhist doctrine explains that life is created at the moment of conception.

KLB: In Buddhist terminology, the so-called "Spirit" that you mentioned is referred to as "energy". It is this karmic energy that give rise to the fetus at conception. Here is a quote from Buddhism in a Nutshell by Narada Thera: From the scientific…

The story that KLB refers to can be found in the Tales of Jataka. It tells of the various former lives of the Buddha. These stories were told as a moral compass for listeners of ancient time.

GOOD FOR EVIL DONE

FOR A BOWL OF WATER, GIVE A GOOD MEAL;
FOR A KINDLY GREETING, BOW THOU DOWN WITH ZEAL;
FOR A SIMPLE PENNY PAY, THOU PAY BACK WITH GOLD;
IF THY LIFE BE RESCUED, LIFE DO NOT WITHHOLD.
THUS THE WORDS AND ACTIONS OF THE WISE REGARD;
EVERY SERVICE TEN FOLD THEY REWARD.
BUT THE TRULY NOBLE KNOW ALL MEN AS ONE
AND RETURN WITH GLADNESS GOOD FOR EVIL DONE.

Whatever will be, will be

On my desk, there are pictures of my children, all smiling and beautiful. My oldest will finish high school in May and will go on to college in August. My second one has three more years, and my youngest – well he hasn’t even started school yet.

Their pictures are reminding me everyday that this is what life is all about: you get married, have children, and watch them grow. As I said, my oldest will go to college soon, and soon she will get her wings. She will fly. Dare I let her fly? I guess I… Continue

How low can we go?

What I have been fearing all along is that the riches and glamors of the latest booms in Khmer real estate market benefit not the ordinary Khmers, but the few Khmer elites and their foreign partners or investors who came and went to do business in Kampuchea as if they are visiting a brothel.

I am certain that, yes, somewhere in between some ordinary Khmers will benefit from all of this frenzy: the construction people, etc. However, looking at a bigger picture I cannot help but wondering how can… Continue

A conversation with a friend

A young friend of mine was talking to me the other day about having a baby. He is 25 year old and his wife of one year is 24. She is a teacher while he…well, under-employed. He was not sure if they (his wife and he) are ready to start a family. Our conversation went something like this:

ME: Are both of you ready?
MATTHEW: Sort of.
ME: Why “sort of”?
MATTHEW: Well, because we do not have money.
ME: Do you need to have money to raise a family?
MATTHEW: No, not really.
ME: Do you want to have a ba… Continue

Thanks for the headache!

A friend of mine complained to me recently of how his business is slowing down because of the construction project that is going on near his business. He said his revenue is down about twenty percent. He said he never thought that this could happen. He is worried by it for he does not know how long this project may last.

I think all of you could wait to see khmer and thai get into war .you all think war is just a game of one's victory.don't you think what is the out come consequences .Remember when the american got in the vietnam war with the best military equipment in the world still left the war with no certain victory and many soldiers die too . Aren't we better just live and let live .About Pras Vihea even supposedly belongs to the world heritage thai would get more benefit then khmer because the tourists most likely travel through thai then khmer.If the war breaks none of this benefit will happens to both country.

Besides, Politic, Religion, are thare any other topics to discuss? I think, The topicas are boring now. We can not change what was going in the past, and we have no power to change or benefit the politic in srok Khmer; all we can do just discuss and said what we want to, we also found some of the most profounding answers to these topics.

Are there any more topics that we can discuss which benefit our daily lives as well, bong Hang?
